Arts and culture bring distinction and visitors to a region, and employment in the sector provides a measure of the sector's relative financial strength and contribution to the larger regional economy.

How is our county performing?

In 2016, 2.8% of jobs in Erie County were in the Arts, Entertainment and Recreation sector, representing about 3,200 people. This was a higher share of jobs than in Pennsylvania as a whole (2%) and the U.S. (1.8%). Since 2000, employment in this sector increased by 1.4 percentage points in Erie County, a larger increase than at the state (.7 points) and national (.3 points) levels during the same period.

How do we compare to similar counties?

In 2016, Luzerne County, PA had the Arts, Entertainment and Recreation sector cover a slightly lower share of total jobs.
